My Travel Hacks
These are some of my "must pack" items for making travel easier and more bearable!
- I have learned to ALWAYS pack a power strip with at least 3-6 outlets in my carry-on bag! Airports and hotels never have enough outlets when your phone, tablet, or laptop's battery is almost dead. Plus you'll score points with other travelers in the crowded waiting area if you're not hogging all the outlets... instead you look like the hero by sharing a few!
- MakeUp Eraser - this gem of a makeup remover cloth is my favorite new find! Just add water and it washes away any type of makeup - even waterproof! Plus it means more space in your TSA 3-1-1 liquids bag because you don't need to carry a bottle of remover or even a facial cleanser, not to mention ditching the cotton balls and all the waste they create! Wring out the cloth well, hang it up to dry, and it will ready to go when you need it the next night to wash the day's makeup away!
- Another way around the TSA 3-1-1 liquids rule: if you don't want to lug your large - and usually very fragile - perfume or cologne bottle on your trip, put a small handful of cotton balls in a small Ziploc(R) bag, spray them with your favorite scent, squeeze the air out of the bag, and seal the bag shut. During your trip, pull out a cotton ball each day (sealing the bag each time) and simply rub it on pulse points at your neck, wrists, etc.
- This little gem was an impulse buy at the State Fair last year - and it's been a handy tool on several occasions! From Solar Juice, this little solar-powered charger is great if you're planning a camping trip or something outdoors. I leave it on my car's dashboard during the day and then tie the strap to my purse strap when I need to power up my cell phone or tablet at the end of the day. It does need to be plugged in to get a full charge at first, but then it holds power for a long time and charges up a phone quickly. It comes with a micro-USB/USB 2.0 cord and 2 other charger ends so it works for several types of devices. It was only $25 (or the guy had a deal to get 2 for $40 at the fair) - totally worth it!
